OCTOdent Bonding Protocol — Chairside Reference

The 6 steps

Corded electric air gun or air/water syringe (air only). Drive

pooled resin out of the intaglio.

Soft toothbrush dipped in 91%+ IPA. Dip–brush–dip–brush. No

soaking. Dry.

50 µm aluminum oxide, **1.5–2 bar**, ~10 mm distance, 10–15 sec

per surface. Stop when uniformly matte.

Print layer lines visible in intaglio = clean. Glossy or smooth =

uncured resin remaining. Repeat steps 2–3.

Clearfil Ceramic Primer Plus, one coat, dry until matte (not

glossy). Handle from the occlusal after this point.

- Pumice. Selective enamel etch 37% H₃PO₄ × 15–30 sec. Rinse. Dry.

- Panavia V5 Tooth Primer × 20 sec. Dry.

- Panavia V5 paste from automix. Seat with steady pressure.

- **Tack cure 3–5 sec** per surface. Remove excess with floss and

explorer.

- **Final cure 10 sec** per surface at ≥1000 mW/cm². **20–40 sec**

for thick or opaque posterior crowns.

- Glycerin gel + 10 sec per surface at margins.

Never

- Hydrofluoric acid on 3D-printed composite hybrid resin.

- Self-adhesive cement on non-retentive preparations.

- Universal adhesive + dual-cure cement across brand lines

without a dual-cure activator.

- Cementation without effective isolation.

- Tack cure beyond 5 seconds.

- Crown in ethanol longer than 10 minutes.

Isolation — preferred to fallback

1. Rubber dam (best). 2. DryShield / Isolite (acceptable).

3. Cotton rolls + retraction cord (fallback; attentive technique).

If margin is bleeding: stop, hemostasis, rinse, re-isolate. Blood

on an abraded intaglio = re-abrade and re-prime.

Key numbers

- Al₂O₃ particle size: **50 µm**

- Panavia V5 Tooth Primer dwell: **20 sec**

- Tack cure: **3–5 sec / surface**

- Final cure (thin): **10 sec / surface**

- Final cure (thick posterior): **20–40 sec / surface**

- Curing light output: **≥1000 mW/cm²**
